Benjamin Logan’s 1786 Kentucky militia expedition burned his Bellefontaine-area town; he negotiated with Kentuckians at Limestone (Maysville) in 1787, then raided back into Kentucky in 1788. With Miami chief Little Turtle he helped shatter Harmar’s and St. Clair’s armies (1790–91)—St. Clair’s Defeat remains the U.S. Army’s worst loss to Native forces—before defeat at Fallen Timbers (1794) and the Treaty of Greenville (1795) that opened much of Ohio to settlement and reshaped the Ohio–Kentucky frontier.
