Danville and Constitution Square

After the Kentucky District court moved from Harrodsburg to Crow’s Station, Danville’s public square (laid out 1785) hosted ten conventions from 1784 to 1792.

Delegates there framed the first state constitution in April 1792, clearing the way for Kentucky to enter the Union as the fifteenth state on June 1. Replicas of the log courthouse, jail, and meetinghouse still mark the ground.
