Lost River Cave

Under Bowling Green, Lost River Cave is a Pennyroyal karst system cut in Mississippian St. Louis and Ste.

Genevieve limestones: a surface stream sinks into roughly seven miles of passages draining a large underground watershed. Settlers harnessed the flow for a grist mill at the cave mouth by the late 1700s; today the preserve offers Kentucky's only underground boat tour through the same vanished river.
