Wright Mounds, Montgomery County

Three conical Adena mounds (15Mm6–8) once crowned a Bluegrass ridgetop.

University of Kentucky crews excavated two in 1937: the larger stood about 30 feet high and 180 feet across, raised in phases over circular paired-post ritual screens, with 21 burials (14 in log tombs) and deliberately broken feast pottery between layers. The smaller mound, built in one phase over a similar screen, held only two people.
