Turk Site, Carlisle County
In Carlisle County, the Turk Site (15Ce6) was a small Mississippian regional center of about 2.5 hectares.
Occupied mainly in the Dorena phase (about 1100–1300 CE) and into the Medley phase, it arranged platform mounds around a plaza and may have drawn people from the older Marshall Site (15Ce27), also in Carlisle County. Richard Edging's 1980s work remains the key modern investigation.
