Chickasaw hunting grounds

West of the Tennessee River, Chickasaw hunting grounds stayed off Kentucky's settled map until October 19, 1818.

Andrew Jackson and Isaac Shelby negotiated what became the Jackson Purchase: roughly 13,000 square miles (about 2,369 in Kentucky) for $300,000 in annuities. That treaty filled in the western counties from Ballard through McCracken and closed the last big Indigenous title claim inside the state.
